Nippon Apple blossom small dish or salt server The dish measures about 3 ½ inches with beautiful hand painted pink flowers. Looks to be gold rimmed also. The tiny dish is in very good condition with no chips or damage and minor age wear to the gold trim along the top rim. It's properly marked on the bottom with the "Hand Painted Nippon" mark of the Noritake Co. from the early 20th century. The design is simple yet elegant, and we particularly like the open ovals on each side which add decorative value plus it somehow seems to make the dish easier to pick up and hold. There is subtle gold banding around the flower petals that adds definition to them and increases the realism, and it took a very steady hand to be able to do it. The mark on the back is of the Rising Sun Nippon, which makes this piece dating from 1890-1921. Hand painted stamped on back. I combine shipping IF I can; so stock up!
