Gemological Properties- The chemical composition of Zincite is ZnO and crystallizes in the hexagonal crystal system. Zincite is a fairly soft stone, around a 4.5 which is comparable to Turquoise. It has a high refractive index of 2.01. As stated earlier, most of the zincite you find now is from the Polish smelters.
