From the Caribbean island of Trinidad, the Trinidad 7-Pot is a relative of the daunting Trinidad Scorpion. It is sometimes called the 7-pod. The primary difference between this and its relative is that this pepper lacks the sharp tail of the “scorpion”. Instead, the 7-Pot can take on a more rounded form or another unique form with a sort of “inny” rounded tail. Its skin is typically bumpy rather than smooth. While the traditional version of the 7-Pot is red, this special variety produces yellow fruits. This pepper is agreed by many to be right up there with the bhut jolokia and Morich naga in terms of heat. It is also comparable to the yellow and red Trinidad Scorpion. The legend behind the name of this pepper is that it is supposedly hot enough to flavor seven pots of food! In addition to taste-bud-busting heat, many growers prefer the taste and visual appeal of the 7-pot and Trinidad Scorpion over the nagas. These guys typically take 100-110 days to reach maturity.
