In this 3D real-time strategy title, players are assured of 100 hours of gameplay by following three distinct "paths" through the fantasy tech tree, which features 94 types of units in single-player campaign mode. Multiplayer action for up to eight players extends game life via a LAN or Internet connection. Warrior Kings offers tactical 3D action and freedom in character development as players strive to reunite a shattered kingdom, making use of diverse landscapes, buildings, and weapons. Decisions made during the campaign determine whether evil, good, or neutrality reigns in the kingdom.
Gathering resources, escorting the all-important cart from harvest to warehouse, setting patrol routes and waypoints, fighting off attacks, creating a working economy, building units, structures, and farms, protecting caravans, defending villages, and upgrading units through research and technology are all part of a day's work for potential warrior kings. Elements of gameplay include building a military force using heavy or light infantry or cavalry, controlling formations (column, line, orb or wedge) in real-time combat and movement, maneuvering reconnaissance units, wielding siege weapons, summoning demonic units, utilizing four types of ships, garrisoning, and taking advantage of "Acts of God."
Mission-based chapters in the single-player campaign require attention to food consumption, unit support, population limitations, supply lines (over land or sea), resource generation (food, wood, stone, and gold), prayer, and sacrifice. Knights, demons, siege warfare, espionage, religion and more are but some of the challenges players must master to become a warrior king.
