Soapine Lot - Antique Lithographed Victorian Advertising Trade Cards. Four advertising images for Soapine:
1. Man on sled, going downhill. Interesting winter garments - moccasin-type low boots, blanket coat, knitted hat. Advertising on the back: "One Trial will Convince You. Kendall Mfg. Co., Providence, R.I." Measures 5-1/4 by 3-3/8 inches. Edges very chipped, missing corners on left side. Back with glue residue around edges.
2. Trimmed card with black whale, "Soapine did it!" Measures 4-3/4 inches long. Creased.
3.Trimmed card with beached whale and arctic scene with icebergs, ship, sailors, natives. Advertising on the back. Measures 3-3/8 by 1-3/4 inches. Printing appears to be woodcut.
4. Trimmed card with girl carrying package of Soapine, The Dirt Killer. Measures 3-1/4 inches high.
Each item is an original card from a late-nineteenth century scrapbook. The image, printed by color lithography, is a chromolithograph, or "chromo."
