"There are eight million stories in the naked city....
The Naked City television show aired during what is considered television's golden age. It was shot on location and is a wonderful study of life in early 1960s New York. The shows regulars were Paul Burke, Horace McMahon, Nancy Malone and Harry Bellaver. Biograph Studios was located in the Bronx, and many outdoor shots were done there, as well as in Greenwich Village and areas of Manhattan. This four-episode DVD is entitled New York To LA. This DVD has great roles for then-very young Peter Fonda, Martin Sheen Tuesday Weld. The show follows the 65th Precinct, which included Times Square and the Broadway district. The four episode DVD has menus and scene selection. The episodes are:
- New York To LA (Robert Blake, Frank Sutton)
- The Night The Saints Lost their Halos (Peter Fonda, Martin Sheen)
- The Hot Minerva (Glynnis Johns)
- A Case Study of Two Savages (Rip Torn, Tuesday Weld).
Many stars today got some of their earliest roles. The show was created by Stirling Silliphant, who went on to create other iconic television shows including Route 66 and Combat. "Somewhere in the Night" also became the signature blues theme. With menus and scene selection.
These are region 1 (USA, CA). For light shipping the disks come in protective paper sleeves and cost $4 in the U.S., $5 to Canada and $6 to Europe, Asia and Australia. They are region 1 (US, CA).
