Alfred Meakin Fair Winds Teacup and Saucer, Brown Transferware Historical Scenes (price is per set of one cup and one saucer) | |
A nautical theme brings together the different scenes shown on this gorgeous cup and saucer, which are from "original copper engravings depicting historical scenes of Chinese export to America" (as stated on the back of the matching luncheon plate, also offered in my store). The New York harbor of 1830 is shown on one side of the cup, behind a sailor bidding his love farewell. On the other side is a fanciful rendition of the New York State Seal, flanked by sailboats. The saucer continues the theme, with another picture of New York's harbor, opposite the American eagle above the motto "E Pluribus Unum". Dishwasher and detergent safe. By Alfred Meakin of Staffordshire, England.
Dimensions: Cup is about 2 3/4 inches tall, and 3 1/2 inches across the top. Saucer is about 5 1/5 inches in diameter.
Condition: Excellent, gently used vintage condition, with no noticeable chips or cracks, and a very light amount of clean crazing on two sets. Most pieces of this pattern are like new, while a few may have a spot of roughness or mild clear crazing.
Quantity: Price is per one cup and saucer set. There are 3 available; multiple item discount and combined shipping apply (see below).

Stated shipping rates cover the cost of shipping across the country. I've learned from hard experience to use USPS Priority Mail for breakable items; otherwise the quote refers to the cheapest shipping method (usually, USPS Parcel Post, UPS Ground, or USPS Media Mail for books and videos). I will adjust your invoice to your area, usually in less than 24 hours of your order. If you are in a hurry and pay immediately without waiting for me to adjust your invoice, you'll receive the amount of your overpayment back, either as an online refund or tucked inside your package.
To request a different shipping method or add insurance, please let me know BEFORE YOU PAY. In general, media items (books, videos) are shipped via media mail (4-9 day delivery within the continental US, longer if "bumped" by the USPS) unless otherwise specified or requested in advance.
International buyers are WELCOME!! Please allow me to adjust your shipping fee on the invoice before you pay. Contact me and I'll be happy to provide you with a shipping quote.
SATISFACTION GUARANTEE accompanies every item - contact me if you are not delighted with your purchase. Click here to see my feedback from customers.
SALES are offered from time to time ... and you'll receive your discount in the form of a refund if you pay before I can adjust your invoice.
