"May hope attend thee thro' the dawning year." Antique Lithographed Victorian New Year Greetings Card. Illustration of flowering plants, with poem, "A hopeful New Year" by L.N., on reverse side: "Tho' Time for ever strides along / With steps that never fail: / There's joy amid this mortal throng / As each New Year we hail." Printed by Eyre & Spottiswoode. Measures 4-7/8 by 6-3/4 inches. Light surface wear and left edge lightly chipped.
Each item is an original card from a late-nineteenth century scrapbook. The image, printed by color lithography, is a chromolithograph, or "chromo."
