It is possible that those musicians became dangerous to the Illuminati and therefore were killed. If they don't serve the purpose, they are useless to them and potentially dangerous, as they may reveal secrets if they start to remember.
It's also known, thanks to former Illuminati programmed slaves who have succeeded to escape, that the Illuminati can pick a child, check for his/her talents, use that part for programming and create geniuses. This is by the way NASA works.
