FIFA Football (Soccer) 2004:
Another year and another FIFA football game with another set of improvements. Although it sounds like a broken record we are not complaining while the game gets better and better each time. As with most games now the sequel obviously features a better set of graphics. While the PC's and consoles get more powerful this is the feature that many game creators are focusing on.
The gameplay itself has soon great little features to play with. The off the ball control allows you to take control of players who don't have the ball. This allows you to tell them to make runs and help you pressure opponents. This can take a while to master as you can imagine as you will need to control the player you are in control of at the same time. It just adds to the last-ability of the game.
There is also a management element to the game. This obviously is not in depth as Championship manager or similar but it does let you have a career mode for something different. It does allow you to take control of transfers, training and general management of the team on match day. Also it does include nationwide teams you great if you don't support a Premier league side.
FIFA holds the license to the leagues and player names so you will be playing with all the stars and proper teams without the need to edit them yourselves.
Groundbreaking Gameplay: FIFA 2004 offers a fine-tuned game engine and a new animation engine dramatically enhancing the smoothness in player movement through organic motion.
Off The Ball™ Control: FIFA’s unique and exclusive Off The Ball™ Control system lets you take command of players not in possession of the ball. Call in tackles, jostle for space, lose your marker and send players on runs at the touch of a button.
Formation Technology: New formation technology now models the behaviour of eleven individuals playing as one team. FIFA now carefully architects the interaction of two teams plus also individual positional awareness, as well as 2, 3 and 4 man sub-units who work together to manage space and create opportunities.
Expanded Database and Controls: Enjoy richer depth to team AI, attributes, tactics, playing styles, and individual player personalities. New depth to control keeps FIFA easy to pick up and play but gives greater depth for the master.
Player Manager: Be your own player manager with FIFA’s deep Career Mode. Build your team and guide your club to the Championship by making calculated decisions. Manage your team’s budget and promote or relegate your players to sustain team objectives on the pitch. When one season ends and another begins new challenges will present themselves. The most successful player managers should also be ready for promotions, as some of the world’s top clubs may have new job offers.
In-game Management: You think it’s easy being the coach? Prove your tactical genius on the fly. Don’t second-guess yourself after the final whistle—make adjustments mid-game and call plays in real time via the d-pad.
Immersive Environments: More than 300 new crowd chants at an ever growing list of officially licensed stadiums help put you in the best seat in the house. From stadiums small and large, no soccer gaming experience offers a more complete library of the game’s authentic environments.
Play With The Best: Now includes 17 leagues, 350 teams and 10,000 players. New additions for 2004 include the Dutch and Portuguese leagues as well as the lower leagues from across Europe’s greatest footballing nations.
A Game With No Boundaries: Take on opponents from across the world via EA SPORTS online (PlayStation 2 and PC only). The online lobby area allows gamers gamers to meet, greet, chat and play FIFA head to head

Total Club Manager 2004
From EA Sports the makers of FIFA (the world's #1 selling sports game), Total Club Manager 2004 puts you straight into the dugout of your favorite football team. Whether you are fighting for league survival or challenging to win the championship, TCM 2004 will put you in total control.
Manage the club the way you think it should be managed. Get involved at every level. Managerial duties include: Buying and selling players in the most realistic transfer market to date; creating your own training sessions; disciplining players or granting them bonuses; dealing with national media and most importantly, keeping the fans happy.
Total Club Manager 2004 realistically portrays the pressures of the modern game. Do the job well and you could see yourself as the future national manager. Should you fail, it may be time to start looking for another club.
If you are already a fan of TCM then you will be wondering "what's new"?
The good news is that the new features that have been added to TCM 2004 are major changes. Sometimes with annual titles like TCM you can find that other than the reshuffle of players and managers between clubs there is not enough in the way of advancement to warrant another cash outlay.
o Football Fusion - A unique and innovative feature that allows you to manage your favourite club from Total Club Manager, make the necessary managerial changes and then play the new and improved team in FIFA 2004.
o More Leagues and Players - Total Club Manager 2004 now has an impressive 50 leagues (on PC) including the English Premiership and Nationwide leagues, French Ligue 1&2, Bundesliga 1&2, Spanish Primera Division 1 and Division B as well as many more. There are now over 30,000 FIFPro players and more than 25,000 up-and-coming youth and generated players.
o 3D Matchplay AI / Tactics - Total Club Manager 2004 utilises the FIFA 2004 3D match engine (PC). The AI will be the most advanced and complete within the management genre. The advancements in both player and team AI reflects the tactical features controllable in TCM's front end. This includes customised formations, individual player orders, passing styles and offside traps.
o Realism is Everything - Total Club Manager 2004 pushes the realism to ensure it's the most immersive and authentic management game on the market. New and improved features include a realistic transfer market, which simulates real-life transfers based on player reputations, transfer windows and current market values. Other realistic features include reserve squads and their matches based on reserve league structures; more lifelike player attributes and authentic kits, crests and chants of the major teams.
o Stadium Editor (PC) - This innovative feature within Total Club Manager allows the player to create fully customisable stadiums that are unique creations or replicas of existing grounds. Increasing the capacity of the stadium will improve revenue potential for the club. These stadiums will also be viewable in 3D match mode.
o Player Missions - During the course of the season, missions will be presented to the player that add new and exciting challenges to their career. Such missions include trying to save a club from relegation or attempting to take a team from mid-table mediocrity to promotion within the last ten games of the season.
Matches played can be viewed using the 3D engine, text mode, or just show the final result. The 3D engine is definitely the most entertaining of the three and if you are not in a hurry to progress it is by far the best option. The 3D mode uses the FIFA 2004 graphics engine and is by far the best I have seen in a managerial game so far. You can actually see the effect your tactics and squad selection has on your team and when playing it you feel like you are totally in-control of your team, you can then react to what you see on the field and pick a better squad or formation for the next match capitalizing on your team's strong and weak aspects.
Total Club Manager 2004 is the most complete soccer management game to date. It is not the most detailed title for statistics but with the football fusion option and truly entertaining 3D rendered matches you could do a lot worse. If you are the kind of person that shouts at your TV when watching your favorite team through that all important match away then this game could be the perfect remedy to your frustrations. Build the best team ever.
