I have for sale the EGG SAVER nesting box for standard breeds.
This box will help reduce the loss of eggs due to cannibalism by chickens.
There's nothing worse than going out to the coop and finding no eggs and a bunch of chickens staring at you with egg yolk all over their faces.
Chickens don't normally eat eggs but once an egg gets broken and they taste it they become addicted to it,and you'll start losing eggs very quickly.
This box can even reduce egg loss to cats and dogs. Provided you've anchored it to something.
They are great for free range chickens or in breeding pens where every egg is precious.
I place these boxes all around my yard and in my pens and they have made a big difference in my egg production.
The hens lay their eggs in the box and the egg moves to the back of the box safely behind a barrier.
These boxes have debris removal slots to help reduce blockage that can hinder egg movement, but it is important to check the box regularly for any thing that may interfere with the proper functioning of the unit.
It is important to keep the box free of dirt and debris as this can keep the egg from moving to the back of the box.
These boxes come with a padded insert to cushion the egg during laying.
This is important for the standard size breeds because they lay a much heavier egg than bantams.
The dimensions are 12-7/8" tall X 11-7/8" wide X 20" deep. Made of #1, 1/2" plywood, 5 ply.
This is a high quality,durable box and should last many years.
These boxes have been Pre Sanded in case you want to paint them.
If you live in a wet climate the box should be painted.
The weight is approx. 12 LBS.
If you have exhausted every option and your still losing eggs to chickens and other predators this may be the solution for you.
I can't guarantee that this box will save every egg, some chickens are very persistant, but it can greatly increase your chances of salvaging eggs that would have otherwise been destroyed.
