Coming Apart features intense performance by Rip Torn as a psychiatrist secretly taping his sexual encounters with patients while he descends into his own madness. A dark, erotic, brooding film much improvised. At the time of its release, reaction was mixed. Then it vanished soon after, to be re-released 20 years later, mostly in Indy Art Houses. Director Milton Moses Ginsburg won much belated praise for his brave film and use of innovative techniques and realistic situations.
