Christmas Carnival, Boston, Massachusetts - Antique Lithographed Victorian Advertising Trade Card. Crying child against metallic golden background: "Bebe n'ira pas voir le feu d'artifice [Baby will not see the fireworks]." Advertising on the back: "Roller Skating and Dancing, Grand Fancy Dress & Costume Military and Civic Ball. Reeves' American Band, Tompson's American Band, Prof. Wm. H. Field, Tufts and Scott Trick Bicyclists." Measures 3 by 4-1/2 inches. Light surface wear, corners chipped. Surface paper peeling and glue residue on corners of back side.
Each item is an original card from a late-nineteenth century scrapbook. The image, printed by color lithography, is a chromolithograph, or "chromo."
