Celluloid Collars, Cuffs, Shirt Bosoms - Antique Lithographed Victorian Advertising Trade Card. Young sailor rides a raft made of a waterproof celluloid cuff. Additional stamped advertising on the face side includes a pair of eye glasses: "Agent for Lemare's Rock Crystal. and Eye Glasses. D. Frank Hale, Sole Agent, Springfield, Mass." Advertising on the back: "The interior is fine linen - The exterior is Celluloid ... When soiled simply rub with soap and water" and other tips for wearing and cleaning. Printed by Donaldson Brothers, Five Points, New York. Card measures 3 by 4-3/8 inches. Light surface wear; closed tear in top right corner. Back has light staining from glue and area with surface paper peeled in top right corner.
Each item is an original card from a late-nineteenth century scrapbook. The image, printed by color lithography, is a chromolithograph, or "chromo."
