All That Jazz 1979
(region 1 USA, CA)
Bob Fosse drove everyone nuts when he made this now iconic film. The award-winning director scared off first choice Richard Dreyfus, but Roy Scheider took his place as drug-addicted, tomcatting workaholic Joe Gideon and gave the performance of his career, winning an Oscar. There are great music numbers laced in the storyline, which they say parallels Fosse's driven show business career. It also was a big start for Jessica Lang and won three other Oscars. Also starring Leland Palmer, Ann Reinking and Cliff Gorman. This DVD is the 2007 special release, which has special features that include audio commentary with film editor Alan Heim, portrait of a choreographer, the making of the song "On Broadway" and Bob Fosse photo gallery among others. It is in widescreen format, which is easy on the eyes. The colors are vibrant and dance numbers fabulous. A must have for lovers of musicals, dance and all that jazz. For light shipping the DVD comes in a protecive paper sleeve and costs $3 in the U.S., $4 to Canada and $6 Europe, Asia and Australia.
