THIS LITTLE SWEETIE IS AMANDA JANE, A 7 INCH PIXIE FROM ENGLAND SOLD AS SORT OF A COUNTERPART TO GINNY. SHE IS IN PERFECT CONDITION AS SHE IS NEW WITHOUT BOX, DARK BROWN HAIR, PAINTED BROWN EYES AND ROSY LITTLE MOUTH. SHE COMES WITH HER FELT POLICE HAT, BELTED NAVY SUIT, AND BLACK SHOES...ALL PERFECT. SHE IS NEW-HAT AFFIXED TO HER HEAD, PLASTIC COVERING HER EYES AND HAIR.
The Amanda Jane doll is 7 inches high, large enough to dress and care for, but small enough for a little girl to take anywhere.
Amanda Jane has movable arms and legs, and painted eyes, making her easy to wash and dress. The doll's hair is rooted and able to be combed.
History
The Amanda Jane doll company was founded in 1952. Initially, the company specialized in manufacturing top quality dolls clothes and shoes, but in the late 1950s, the first doll, named Jinx was produced.
The company suffered a major fire in 1965, which destroyed all patterns and most of the records. The management started again from scratch, producing a new 7" doll called Amanda Jane.
From the late 1960's onwards, Amanda Jane and her baby sister Baby Amanda Jane were sold in most good UK toy shops and all over world, when she became a much loved first doll for thousands of little girls. She is now hugely popular as a collector's doll.
The company, now based in Wales, proudly celebrated its golden jubilee in 2002. It is still under the same management with the same designer, who has been with the company since 1963.
