" The Development of Ideas with the
Old and New Testaments "
Hardback book with Dust Jacket by Harry Emerson Fosdick
Over 345 pages
Copyright, 1938, by Harper & Brothers
" The general reader here, for the first time, can read the fascinating story of the development of the great religious ideas of the Old and New Testaments. "
" " The story of developing Scriptural ideas," writes Dr. Fosdick in the Introduction, "ought to be popularly known. It is fascinating in itself; it throws light on every portion of the Bible.
It distinguishes the minor detours from the major highways of Biblical thought;
it gives their true value to primitive concepts;
and in the end it makes of the Bible a coherent whole, understood in terms of its origins and growth." "
" Dr. Fosdick's purpose has been to make this illuminating material, which scholars have long appreciated, available to the general reader.
Years in preparation, his clear, succinct interpretations make this book on the Bible one of the outstanding books of our age. "
