The card used for the first day issue is a duplication of the 1st U.S. Postal Card adapted for modern day postal use (rate increases and whatever regulations require). The card is unaddressed and bears a postmark dated September 14, 1973 at Washington, DC. There is another postmark indicating May 12, 1873 as First Day of Issue U S Postal Cards. The card measures approximately 5 ½ inches by 3 ¼ inches and is in excellent condition with no tears, creases or extraneous marks. The rectangular shape to the left of the postage is from the printing process and not a stain. Images of both sides of postcard are included for your review (to show any defects visually).
