Homer Laughlin Bess Myerson Big Payoff Vintage Dinner Plate

The dark pink bell flowers on this highly collectible dinner plate have a royal look about them - in fact, it was designed by Bess Myerson, Miss America 1945, during her role as co-star in the popular 1950s game show "The Big Payoff". The "mink coat quiz" show had a 6-year run, so this plate was produced by Homer Laughlin sometime between 1951 and 1957. Aside from being collectible as vintage television ephemera, this plate is beautifully designed with a balanced combination of feminine floral and atomic age motifs.
Dimensions: 10 inches in diameter, coupe shape, edge stands slightly less than 1 inch high.
Condition: Very Good to Excellent. Still shiny and bright. No chips, cracks, or crazing. Minor utensil marks, light (10%) wear to silver coating on the rim. Back is stamped in gold under the glaze: "Big Pay-Off Dinnerware, Designed by Bess Myerson, The Homer Laughlin China Co."
