Hammond's Standard World Atlas 1952
Condition and description: Good deal of cover wear, corner bumps and soiling to covers of this over 50 year old book. There is also noticeable wear to the inside of the covers as well, some peeling and spots. Most inside pages are clean (a few light stains on some) and the binding is tight.
Inside this book is a worn pull out from a 1960 issue of This Week magazine, titled "America as seen by its Presidents", which consists of pictures of the Presidents (through Eisenhower) and a quotation from each. There are tears and browing to the edges of this pull-out. In similar condition is another pull-out from The American Weekly, 1959, "Our 50 State Flags", full color images of the flag of each state.
Inside the covers of this book are images of Jean Domenique Cassini's World Map of 1696. The atlas contains glossary of geographical terms, map projections and world statistics, tables of air line distances, world political associations and population densities, world religions and languages, world accessibility and occupations, climates, ocean currents, world production of products, index of US cities and populations, etc.
Maps include maps of the world, United States, United States commercial airways maps, United States highways, and an illustrated gazetteer of the United States and US territories. There is also a gazetteer of the world, and a section called "The Races of Mankind".
The last section of the book is a Pictorial Digest of World War II.
