Today I am offering you my OOAK version of the Celtic Claddaugh.
The heart is made from muslin that I have color washed with red paint and stained it in a coffee, vanilla, and cinnamon mixture. I then baked it for an aged look that also has a wonderful scent. I have sanded it down to give it that softened vintage look. The vintage gloves are carefully stuffed and hand sewn shut, and are also hand sewn to the heart. I have left the gloves as I had received them. They do show some wear due to their age and have some little holes that are barely noticeable. There is some discoloration along with a couple a dark spotty discolorations. This is definitely an OOAK piece as I do not think I would be able to find the same gloves again! They are simply gorgeous, but the pictures do not do them justice! The vintage gingerbread wooden "crown" has also been untouched. I left it just as I had found it. The base of the piece is a gold toned candle stick holder. The Claddaugh is finished off with a couple of strips of cheese cloth and chenille yarn that I have also aged in the coffee, vanilla, and cinnamon mixture, then baked to give it that prim look. I then tied it into a bow at the base of the heart.
The Claddaugh is such a versatile piece that you can display it for Valentines Day through St. Patricks Day, or year round! For this reason I am including an aged mica tag for each holiday. Valentines Day, St. Patricks Day, and an everyday tag so you can leave the Claddaugh out all year. I will also include a brief meaning of the Claddaugh with your purchase.
