Softly hued, classic portrait of the Christ child, from an original painting by Sister Berta Hummel, and made over 40 years ago, in what was then considered to be "West" Germany. Hand painted outlines give depth to the iconic image. "Christmas 1975" in script centered below the design. Just as it was when originally sold, this is ready for hanging with a simple plastic tag attached through two drilled holes in the back rim. Back of plate reads "Christmas Child" by Sister Berta Hummel. Christmas Plate 1975 Limited Edition. Mrs. Viktoria Hummel, the artist's mother and legal heir, has chosen and authorized this subject for the 1975 Christmas Plate. It is taken from an original painting created by Sister Berta Hummel as a gift for her aunt before she entered the Convent and is an early example of her abiding love for children.
