Brown on white transferware decorative plate which pictures of 7 landmarks in the state of Maryland, clockwise from top: The Carroll Mansion, The Battle Monument 1812, The Johns Hopkins Hospital, The Shot Tower, The John Paul Jones Chapel at the U.S. Naval Academy, The Washington Monument, and in the center, the State House in Annapolis. Surrounding these graceful scenes is a rim of brown-eyed susans (the state flower). The backstamp reads "My Maryland sketches by Emge/originated by Lycett Inc. established 1835/Baltimore 1940/Vernon Kilns U.S.A." This handsome plate was purchased at an estate sale from the original owner. One repaired chip on the back rim, not visible from the front. No other chips, or scratches or crazing. Dimensions: Approximately 10.5 inches in diameter. A stately addition to your collection of commorative plates or pottery. |
