MEXICAN SILVER EARRINGS WITH CAT TAILS mid 50's ?

These are screw backs with the only mark being visible under loupe saying sterling mexico and 2 initials that are not decipherable by me...and the other earring reads an eagle 1 and mexcio has been hand engraved. the screw back mechanism itself reads alpaca which is mixed metal.
I believe them to be of a very very low silver content despite their mark. ?
